Episode 38
CAN WORKING AT MACCA’S MAKE YOU MORE EMPLOYABLE?
Listen: ON SPOTIFY
Watch: ON YOUTUBE
Hello again, Hopso friends – we’re back in the deep fryer.
A few weeks ago, we tossed up a 10-second clip to TikTok and Instagram where Pete casually mentioned that he’d always place a McDonald’s resume at the top of the hiring pile. Nothing wild – just a nod to the strength of their systems.
Fast forward to today: that clip racked up over 2.1 million views and sparked hundreds of comments – from fast food veterans and drive-thru warriors to people who just really wanted to tell us off. Some backed us. Some roasted us. One even involved someone’s mum (and yes, that one was funny).
So in this episode, we wanted to hit the brakes and give a bit more context – not just to what was said, but to why we said it. Because while people think we were banging on about burgers, we were actually talking about systems – the kind of well-oiled, repeatable processes that any good business lives or dies by.
This isn’t about whether the fries are hot or the ice cream machine works. It’s about what McDonald's can teach business owners about onboarding, training, stock control, and maintaining standards across locations – things we’ve borrowed in our own ventures.
So, if you’ve ever hired a teenager, tried to scale a hospitality business, or just wondered how a 10-second video about the Golden Arches lit up the internet... this one’s for you.
